Throughout 2018, MTS Systems joined with hybrid simulation thought leaders worldwide to stage a series of live seminars, exploring the technologies and methods required for pursuing safe, meaningful and productive Pseudo-dynamic and Real-time hybrid simulation investigations across a variety of engineering applications. The three seminars were carefully planned and staged with generous guidance and support from the professors, staff and students at the Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research (PEER) Center - University of California Berkeley, the Smart Structures Laboratory - Swinburne University of Technology, and the MAST Laboratory - University of Minnesota.

Professor Khalid Mosalam, Director of the Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research (PEER) Center at UC Berkeley, discusses the history of hybrid simulation and looks at 6 unique applications that utilize hybrid simulation techniques.

Professor Shirley Dyke, Director of the Intelligent Infrastructure Systems Lab, reviews the history and benefits of Real-Time Hybrid Simulation including its use in Multi-Hazard Engineering and examples from Purdue University and Lehigh University.
Dr. Martin Leclerc, Research Engineer at Polytechnique Montréal, presents on the Multidirectional Hybrid Testing System (MDHTS), a custom 6DOF setup for testing structural subassemblies. Dr. Leclerc reviews the overall testing capabilities, several test applications, and discusses the challenges faced when using this unique system.
Professor Sri Sritharan, Assistant Dean and Wilkinson Chair, College of Engineering at Iowa State University, utilizes hybrid simulation for testing tall wind turbine towers.
Dr. Andreas Schellenberg introduces the strategy of combining traditional shake table testing with the hybrid simulation method. A hybrid shake table test offers many benefits over shake table testing alone. Dr. Schellenberg reviews the theory and implementation of this unique test method, including several examples and video demonstrations.
